Cutimed Alginate is a calcium alginate wound dressing that is made out of natural seaweed. It is 80% calcium and 20% sodium). Cutimed calcium alginate dressing is highly absorbent as it absorbs up to 20 times its own weight in exudate! The wound exudate is retained in as gel when it comes in contact with the dressing. It is ideal for moderate to heavily exuding wounds wuch as venous ulcers, arterial ulcers, pressure ulcers, and diabetic ulcers. Also ideal for skin donor sites, abrasions and lacerations, superficial and partial thickness burns, and deeper sites that are hard to dress.
