USE:

The GelFoam® Ankle Stirrup Brace enhances medial/lateral stability of the ankle joint following sprains, strains or after cast removal. Ideal brace for mild ankle sprains since the liners can be removed and chilled for use as cold therapy.

COMFORT BENEFITS:

The rigid brace shells are designed to fit the ankle comfortably, providing the needed medial/lateral stabilization. The soft terry cloth covered liner is cool and comfortable against the skin. The gel-filled portion of the liner conforms to the malleoli of the ankle for intimate support and custom fit.

COLD THERAPY:

The application of cold compression can he reduce the severity of an injury and relieve the accompanying pain by reducing swelling and soothing nerve endings. Cold therapy can be used immediately after an injury for up to 72 hours in 20-minute intervals. Remove GelFoam liners from the plastic shells and place in refrigerator until cold (approximately 20 minutes). Place the liners back in shells and apply brace, securing two-way adjustable hook and loop straps.

HOW TO APPLY:

Place the rigid shells on the medial and lateral sides of the ankle. The heel width is easily adjusted and the brace is applied with two adjustable hook and loop straps. While squeezing side panels together, wrap the lower then the upper strap and fasten with hook and loop closures. Once both straps are fastened, readjust the lower then upper strap to ensure a proper fit. Fit should be snug but not so tight it pinches or it constricts circulation. Wear over socks and with an athletic shoe. Liners can be removed and cooled in the refrigerator.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

Gelfoam liners are easily removed and can be hand washed in cold water with mild soap. Do not bleach. Air dry away from heat. Do not tumble dry.
